1st Peter 4:8

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.

Quickword: A Call To Love

Here in 1st Peter, we are urged to make Love a priority. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and minister of the Gospel, it’s easy and natural for me to show love to my spouse, my child and grandchildren. It‘s even easy to love those whom I have the pleasure to minister too and those I minister with. The question is can we love beyond those who are close to us? We witness the hate almost on a daily basis of person based on race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and even economic standing. This text urges us to:

- Make Love of humanity a priority

- Love of humanity should be fervent (passionate) that leads to action

- Love covers a multitude of sins

We have been blessed by the Love of God expressed in the gift of his only son as the redeemer for a sinful world. The blood of Jesus definitely covers a multitude of sin. For those of us who call ourselves Christians, we have the obligations to live up to our name. In the spirit of Jesus, we should love one another, love those who don’t love us, love those who are different from us, love unconditionally and sacrificially. Can you imagine a world where love between humanity reigns supreme. We may never witness that beloved community, yet we can do our part to make our homes, churches, places of employment, community and city better by just loving those whom we come into contact with even when its not easy. This is a call to love, will you answer the call to love Everybody?
