John 14:1-3
1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father’s house are many[a]mansions; if it were not so,[b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you,I will come again and receive you to Myself; thatwhere I am, thereyou may be also.
Quickword: A Prepared Place
I’m looking forward to being at home for a few days visiting my son and his family. It also a time that I will connect with friends, some whom I have not seen in quite sometime. As I pack my bag, the thought ran across my mind that one day I’m going to go to my eternal home. Today, a number of us are grappling with the recent loss of a loved one. I want to express in this Quickword a word of encouragement; for those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He has prepared a place for us beyond our earthly existence. Take comfort in knowing that:
- If you know God, you know Jesus, therefore let not your heart not be troubled.
- There is a promised prepared place for the children of God
- Jesus has come to set us free from the power and penalty of sin and He has gone before us to prepare a place for us.
- Jesus is coming back to receive us to himself.
Here me clearly, by no means am I trying to dismiss the grief we face when a loved one transitions from life eternal. Yet, I want to encourage you to not let your heart be troubled, for there is a prepared place for the those who have preceded us in this life and there is a place beyond our earthly existence prepared for you and I. Let not your heart be troubled for Jesus himself will receive us unto himself and welcome us one day into our eternal home.
