Matthew 26: 47-49
47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
Quickword: Betrayed by a Kiss
Have you ever been betrayed by someone you are close too? Have you ever been betrayed by someone whom you open doors for? Have you ever been betrayed by someone who was so intimately connected with that there signal of betrayal was a kiss? Every time I read this text, I’m not so much surprised that Judas betrayed Jesus but I’m surprised by the signal that he used, a kiss . I normally try to write a post in the morning but this afternoon I’m compelled by the Spirit to write this brief post. I don’t know who this is meant for but if you have recently been betrayed by someone close to you, take comfort in knowing that you are in good company. If Judas betrayed Jesus, surely we can be betrayed by a relative, friend, coworker or colleague. Again it’s not the betrayal that shook me, it’s the kiss of the betrayer. Be careful of who is close enough to kiss you. Even after He was betrayed, Jesus stayed on course all the way to Calvary where he was crucified so that all of humanity could be saved. Y’all, all I’m trying to say to whomever this is for, keep moving no matter who betrayed you! What God has for you is for you!
