2nd Peter 2:18-22
18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who [i]have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of [j]corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into [k]bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”
Quickword: Beware of False Teachings
I’m greatly concerned by the language and words spoken in our current culture. The bitter partisan divide has come to the point where the country just from my view point is split almost to the point of no return. What concerns me the most are persons who claim to have been called by God to preach the good news (Gospel) of Jesus Christ. This week I’ve heard many who state they are called to proclaim the gospel pontificating of rigged trials, liberal blue states, ultranationalist red states, passing judgements that are reserved for God abd God alone. Peter writes in this text, it would have been better for them to have not known righteousness than to have known and turned away from the holy commandments given unto them.
Over the next five plus months leading up to the next presidential election which will decide not only who the president will be, but Congress and possibly the Supreme Court, I beseech each of us to be aware of false teachings. I’ll asked that you believe your eyes, listen closely to what is said and compare it with what is being done. The writer of this text uses a true proverb that states, “ A dog will return to its own vomit” and a sow (female pig) having cleanse oneself will wallow in the mire (dirt/filth). My brothers and sisters, what gives me comfort in these troubling times is that I believe without a shadow of a doubt that God still reigns supreme. We must remains grounded and rooted in our faith in the one who is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I’ve heard it said or song all of my life; I echo the sentiments of the Saints who in spite all that we face can proclaim, I’ve got a feeling that everything is going to be alright!
2nd Corinthians 5:10 tells us;
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
Yes yes praise God. He is in control. Amen!
