Don’t Turn Away

Galatians 1:6-9

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert[a] the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be [b]accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

The Apostle Paul pens a letter to the church at Galatia. The persons of Galatia after hearing and receiving the word of God and accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior begin to turn away. They turn away because of some other teaching they are hearing. Paul writes to admonish and also encourage them to not turn away from the true Gospel. The preaching and teaching of the word of God is a serious responsibility. Those of us who have been called will face the judgement of God for any purposeful false teachings. Yet today I suggest to the reader or the student to be on guard against false teachings. We must be prepared not to allow anyone to persuade us to turn away from the word of God. Edward Mote penned it best of all with words that encourage us trust in the word of God and not to turn away.
