1st Thessalonians 5:9-11

9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Quickword: Encourage One Another…

The last verse in this text reminds us that we have a responsibility to encounter and build each other up in the name of Jesus. One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that when a brother or sister in Christ excels we all excel. I’ve also learned that when a brother in Christ suffers we all suffer. The reason is that we are connected to one another as family in the Kingdom of God. The writer encourages us in this last verse to encourage one another and build up one another.

-God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation.

-Jesus died so that we might live together with Him

- Let’s us continue to encourage one another as you are already doing.

Let’s Pray: Dear God in Heaven, I pray for the persons who will encounter this post. God I pray that you strengthen them where they are weak; I pray that you give them peace in the midst of conflict and confusion; God I pray that you remind us of the gift of Salvation received through the broken body and shed blood of your son and our Savior Jesus Christ. God I pray that today when opportunity presents itself we will encourage one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. God have your way, pour out your Spirit upon your people in Jesus name. Amen
