Psalms 136:1-4 {Amplified Bible]

1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;

For His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever.

2 Give thanks to the God of gods,

For His lovingkindness endures forever.

3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

For His lovingkindness endures forever.

4 To Him who alone does great wonders,

For His lovingkindness endures forever;

Quickword: Give Thanks unto the Lord, Pt.3

Today’s text is lifted from Psalms 136 in the Amplified Bible. This translation struck me as it provided a quick summation of the enduring lovingkindness that the Lord showers upon us. So today in day three of giving thanks unto the Lord, we give thanks because of his lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy and compassion).

- Give thanks to the Lord for His graciousness, He looks beyond our faults and sees our every need.

- Give thanks to the Lord for His Mercy, He withholds the penalty of our sins.

- Give thanks to the Lord for His Compassion, He understands our human frailties.

I‘m truly thankfully for the Lovingkindness of an all knowing, ever present and all powerful God. When I think of the graciousness, mercy and compassion that the Lord shows us, I’m overwhelmed by the love He shows us, He has kept us in the midst of a pandemic, He continues to keep up during the turbulent times of divided government in this country, He continues to keep us as the racial divide and the original sin of this nation continues to be revealed. My Brothers and my Sisters, day in and day out, week after week, month after month, I thank the Lord that He is the same Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow, He changes not! Verse four of this text highlights that He alone does great wonders. Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, He is worthy to be praised!!!!
