Psalms 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But [a]joy comes in the morning.
Quickword: Joy in the Morning !
This text juxtaposes the conditions of both encountering the anger and joy of God. Often times, this verse is used to encourage those who are facing some major obstacle in their lives with an encouraging word that weeping may endure for a night but the knowledge of knowing that joy comes in the morning. A closer examination of this passage illustrates to us the Love of God, This love is demonstrated in the fact that sometimes because of the sin in our lives, the anger or wrath of God is upon us. A saying that is spoken in my house is that we can choose our sins but we cannot choose the consequences. The author of this text is King David, David is known as a man after God’s own heart, yet there were time in his life when David sinned and was discipled by God. Likewise we to find ourselves because of the sins in our lives encountering the anger of God. I know this is tough as we want God to love us at all times and the good news is that he does, even when we are being disciplined as correction is necessary.
- The anger of the Lord is only for a moment.
- The favor of the Lord is continually upon us.
- Our weeping is overcome by joy as a result of being in right relationship with God.
As the darkness of the night gives way to the rising of the sun, so does the consequences of our sins when we weep and repent. The darkness gives way to favor of God upon our lives and the joy that comes in the morning. This morning, let us come into the presence of God, acknowledge our sins and experience the Love of God whose anger last for only a moment, whose Love turns our weeping into joy. God is full of Grace and Mercy that are new every morning. My brothers and sisters despite our daily failures and shortcomings, when we come to God and acknowledge our human frailties and sins, he is a just and faithful, God pours out his favor upon us. God‘s loves us, the good, the bad, the ugly, all of us. He loved us so much that he sent his only begotten son Jesus to die at Calvary’s cross to redeem us from our sins. The reality of life is that there are times when we will find ourselves weeping but the good news is that weeping is temporal . Weeping will endure for a night, but I am a witness that Joy comes in the morning. I’ll pray for you, you pray for me and let us watch God turn our weeping into joy this morning!
