Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Quickword: Lord, we need you..

Jesus begins the sermon on the mountain by proclaiming paraphrasing, how blessed are those who understand how much we need the Lord ( poor in spirit) that theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The understanding that we cannot make it on our own leads us to desire a personal relationship with the savior. The writer of the Hyman said it this way:

“ I need thee oh I need thee

Every hour I need thee

Oh bless me now my savior

I come to thee”

- Blessed are those who truly understand the need of the Savior

- Blessed are those who truly understand that we need the Savior every hour of every day

- Blessed are those who truly understand that we need the Savior right now..

Today, I echo the sentiments of the hymn writer, Lord I need thee every hour, oh bless me now my Savior, I come to thee. My beloved brothers and sisters, wherever you may be today, whether you are on the mountain top or traveling through the low valley of life, know that we are blessed when we understand that we can lean and depend on the savior to meet our every need. Blessed are those who know we do nothing on our own but by the Grace and Mercy of God. Lord we need you today, every hour, bless and keep us as only you can through dangers seen and unseen. God we acknowledge your presence in every moment of our lives. Thank you for being with us yesterday, today and forevermore more. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
