1st Kings 18: 21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.

Quick-word: Say Something!

We live in a world that is extremely polarized: In politics, it the Liberal left and the Conservative Right. Its pro-vaccination advocates versus the anti-vaccination advocates. Even newspapers and National cable organizations can cover the same event and report vast differences in what took place. In this text, the prophet Elijah calls the prophets of Baal and the prophets of the the goddess Asherah, some 850 total and all the children of Israel and asked all who were assembled, which God do you choose to serve? In this current environment, especially as confessed believers this is a question that begs to be answered.

- How long will we falter between two opinions?

- If the Lord is our God serve him If not serve Baal/false gods.

- It is imperative as believers that we Say Something!

In this text the Israelites say nothing. From my vantage point, modern day believers have assumed this same posture. Silence when the Capital was attacked, Silence when Women Rights are on the line, Silence when those crossing the border have melanated skin, Silence when the rights to vote for all is under attack. Silence to protect our children from Covid and gun violence. Silence to protect the least among us. Perhaps, the question of who we serve is being answered in the Silence! If this is not true, don‘t stay silent.

SAY SOMETHING!
