Psalms 1:2-3
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Quickword: The Benefits of Walking with God
I want to continue the thought from yesterday’s Quickword when we looked at Psalms 1:1 and highlighted the blessed man (male & female) The blessed man is one who does not walk with the ungodly, nor stands with sinners or sit with the scornful . Following that formula is a recipe for destruction. Verses 2 and 3 in Psalms 1 gives us the benefit of genuine fellowship with God:
- A Man who walks with God benefits from being in intimate fellowship with him
- A Man who walks with God benefits in that we are rooted in the word of God like a tree planted by the rivers of water.
- A Man who walks with God benefits in that whatsoever he does he propers!
Anyone who has walked with God for any period of time can be a witness to the benefits of being in relationship with God. We become rooted like a tree. When the storm winds of life come, we are able to stand because of our roots in him. We benefit because we are rooted in him, we proper in our season. The blessings to prosper is not limited not only material gain. The benefits of being rooted in God is that we find peace, joy, hope, protection, provisions, assurance, favor and love just to name a few. We are blessed by his Grace and Mercy; I encourage even today to draw even closer to him.
But as it is written: ”Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man, The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1st Corinthians 2:9). Have a blessed Sunday!
