Matthew 16: 13-16

13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”

14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Quickword: Who Is He?

This morning I was awaken by messages that my social media account had been hacked. I am grateful to a number of people who contacted me to verify my identity. In today’s Quickword, we find Jesus asking his disciples about his identity. He ask a series of questions. Who do men say that I am? Who do you say that I am? The responses were varied, some said that he was John The Baptist, others Elijah, others Jeremiah or one of the other prophets. The question of who Jesus is still needs needs to be answered.

- The world has not accepted who Jesus truly is.

- Like Peter, our confession of the Christ must be uncompromising.

- The revelation of who Jesus is comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My brothers and sisters, there is a blessing in knowing who Jesus is! During this season of Advent, we are blessed by the reminder that Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the Redeemer and Savior of the world. Don’t let the ways of the world hack your identity. We are children of the most high God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus. Who is He? He is Emmanuel being interpreted “ God is with us”. He is our provider, protector and healer. Who is He, he is shelter in time of a storm, a way out of no way. This morning, even though my social media identity was hacked, I glad I know who He is and that He knows who I am!
